Microplay Closing Friday 3rd of July

Dear Gamer,

It is with some sadness that we announce the closure of Microplay Gaming (Microplay Ltd.) on Union St, Glasgow. Over the past 3 and a half years Microplay has strived to provide the best possible experience for gamers in Glasgow and the surrounding area. However the directors and shareholders of the company have decided that it is now time to close the company down and move on to new ventures.

As a result Microplay Gaming on Union Street will close its doors on Friday the 3rd of July.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to the thousands of customers who graced our venue over the past years, without you Microplay would never have been such a great place to be.

It is now time to look to the future of gaming in Glasgow and the UK...

This opening represents the beginning of a new era for Gaming Centres in Scotland as HMV continue their plans to build a network of state-of-the-art gaming venues around the UK. A small number of Microplay staff have applied for and have accepted jobs at this new venue and we intend to keep the spirit of Microplay alive as we continue to support and grow the gaming community in Scotland.

The Gamerbase Centre will feature 50 brand new top of the range gaming PCs, 10 Xbox 360s and 10 Playstation 3s (the only official gaming venue in the UK to feature the PS3).

Most importantly the centre is fully sponsored by manufacturers such as Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia and many more, along with a host of software publishers. This means that there will be events and tournaments on an almost daily basis with prizes ranging from Microsoft Points to money to spend in HMV itself!

In addition there will be loads of inter-centre events with the existing Gamerbase venues in Manchester and London, and with the brand new Reading store which will be opening in August! This means that Scotland's gamers can face off against others all around the country and prove once and for all who the number one gamers in the UK are!

In addition all Gamerbase members will automatically become members of HMV's exciting new loyalty program HMV Pure. This scheme offers customers access to fantastic offers like Tickets to film premieres, VIP Gig tickets, signed albums, limited edition merchandise and more! Obviously we are very excited about what will be happening over the next few weeks, months and years and we hope to see all of you at this new venue! In order to make the transition as easy as possible Gamerbase has agreed to honour your Microplay username! Gamerbase uses the same smartlaunch management system so the only changes you will see will be the bigger screens and faster graphics!

The Prices for the new venue will be just £10 for 4 hours but Microplay customers, on their first visit, can buy time at £2 an hour with no cap on the amount of hours you can buy! Plus, as a Microplay customer you will also get 2 Free Hours of gaming added to your account on your first visit!
